Design Inspiration Revealed Behind Renovation at Eagle Point Golf Club –
Home of 2017 Wells Fargo PGA Championship
WILMINGTON, NC | April 25, 2017 -- Tick. Tock. The clock is winding down and the calendar is days away from the much-anticipated start of the 2017 Wells Fargo PGA Championship at Eagle Point Golf Club.
The exclusive, members-only golf club in Porter’s Neck is busy making final preparations for the May 1-7 tournament, but one thing is for certain – the newly redesigned clubhouse has never looked so good - thanks to the talent and creative vision of Bridgett Mazer Interiors.
“It’s been a privilege to lead the clubhouse transformation for one of North Carolina’s best golf courses,” commented Bridgett Mazer, owner and lead designer. “We strived to create an elegant, but comfortable design which blends nicely with the architecture. The fresh, new design is timeless and something the members will enjoy for years to come.”
In 2016, Bridgett was hired to bring an updated “championship look” to the men’s locker room. The members liked the redesigned space so much that Bridgett was asked to design the club’s newest building which houses a fitness center, common area and 6 guest suites.
Then in early 2017, Bridgett started with renovations to the main clubhouse. This original building, where much of the PGA event activities will be held, and is in the final stages of installation. About 70% of the design will be added to the space just before the tournament – including the dramatic and beautiful draperies.
The final pieces for the clubhouse, including custom mirrors for the fireplace mantels and other accessories, will be added this summer.
“Our design goal for the clubhouse and new building was to give both spaces a light and airy feel. We incorporated classic fabrics and textures, and chose a color palate of Celadon green, blues and neutrals,” commented Bridgett. “The clubhouse is traditional, so we choose classic lines for the furniture.”
Bridgett, who resides in Wilmington, focused on incorporating North Carolina-based companies for furnishings and refinishing services. A few of the homegrown brands featured in to the design include Century Furniture, Hickory Chair, Lillian August, Lee Industries, Maitland- Smith, Fairfield Chair, Gabby Home and custom bedding from Barclay Butera’s line. Fabrics include Scalamandre and Brunschwig and Fils.
“It was important to me to mix different materials and elements to give an interesting, thoughtful feel to each room,” commented Bridgett. “Throughout the Eagle Point clubhouse, you’ll find a variety of iron, marble, hand-painted wood, shagreen and glass.”
Bridgett was referred by a past client and a member of Eagle Point. The competition for the design project was fierce and the field included many well-known designers, but Bridgett’s positive attitude and inspiring, design and vision won out.
What’s does the future hold for Bridgett and her Eagle Point Golf Club partnership? She is looking forward to helping with the redesign of the Club’s onsite cottages later this year.
